Current Research: Handwritten Document Retrieval: Indexing of large collections of handwritten documents, such as the letters of George Washington. Epidemic Detection from time series data using statistical models. Past Research: Vision-system based detection and tracking of objects in inner-city traffic scenes with an application to autonomous road vehicles (this work was done at the Institute for Algorithms and Cognitive Systems (IAKS) at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany and at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Data-Processing (IITB) in Karlsruhe, Germany). Robust navigation solutions for aircrafts based on GPS/INS and video data. Statistical meta-search (combination of search engines for improving retrieval effectiveness).
