Governor William Weld tests CIIR’s STAR-JOBS system

July
1993

Then-Massachusetts Governor William Weld tests the STAR-JOBS (Strategic Alliance for Reinvestment and Jobs) system on July 29, 1993 that provides searching capabilities of a full-text database of economically relevant information that included product/service descriptions of 5,000 U.S. high-tech and environmental technology companies in New England. It allows post-Cold War strategic partnerships among companies and investors. “It is virtually idiot proof” said Weld.
