Infoseek gets high rankings from multiple media sites on its search engine.

In Winter 1997, Infoseek’s web site receives over 5 million hits per day from over 1 million Internet users worldwide. According to the February 1997 issue of PC Computing, “Infoseek gets the highest rating, five-stars...,” and The Washington Post’s electronic newspaper washingtonpost.com claims Infoseek has the “Best all-around search engine.” When the company joined the Center in 1993, it had only 11 employees. In 1997, Infoseek employed 125 people and was one of the most active web searching sites on the Internet. Awards included "Number One Rated Search Engine" (PC Computing), "Best of the Test" (Internet World), "MVP: Internet Tools (PC Computing) and "Top 100: Editor's Choice (Home PC).
