CIIR Students Awarded Writing Fellowships

Four CIIR doctoral students received Spring 2023 Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences Writing Fellowships. Ali Montazeralghaem and Shahrzad Naseri received CICS Dissertation Writing Fellowships, and Zhiqi Huang and Puxuan Yu received CICS Proposal Writing Fellowships. Each of the recipients is advised by Professor James Allan, CIIR Director.

According to the College, students who are nearing completion of their dissertation writing are nominated for the dissertation fellowship based on the strength of their dissertations and its significance to computing theory and practice. Dissertation Fellowship recipients receive a stipend to focus on their writing as they near their dissertation defense and graduation dates. The CICS Proposal Writing Fellowship program, new this year, provides stipends to doctoral students who are in the proposal stage of their academic career and who are nominated for the award. The fellowships allow the recipients the opportunity to focus on their proposal writing.
