CIIR Director James Allan and Associate Director Hamed Zamani, along with UT Austin’s Eunsol Choi, organized a two-day visioning workshop, “ Future of Information Retrieval Research in the Age of Generative Artificial Intelligence,” that was held in Washington, D.C. in July 2024 and attended by 44 experts in this field of research. The group brainstormed on the future societal impact, challenges, opportunities, and recommendations for new research programs at the intersection of IR and GenAI.
