Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval (CIIR) established on September 1, 1992 with a National Science Foundation S/IUCRC grant with Bruce Croft as Director of the Intelligent Information Retrieval Laboratory (within CRICCS) and Paul McOwen, CIIR Administrative Director. Initial faculty involved included Bruce Croft, Rick Adrion, Wendy Lehnert, Victor Lesser, and Edwina Rissland
